My Role
As a user experience Intern at DigiHealth Lab, I focused on designing intuitive UI/UX for health tech applications, creating 3D assets and animations to enhance user engagement, and developing marketing videos to effectively communicate product features. Additionally, I refined user interfaces based on stakeholder feedback to ensure accessibility and usability.
Overview
What is Digi Health Lab?
DigiHealth Lab, founded by Professor Edward J. Wang, is a joint research initiative of UCSD’s Design Lab and Jacobs School of Engineering dedicated to advancing health tech innovation. The lab develops hardware-free medical sensing solutions, transforming smartphones into diagnostic tools for conditions like anemia and hypertension while also creating wearable devices for continuous health tracking. By integrating signal processing, machine learning, and mobile prototyping, DigiHealth Lab pushes the boundaries of accessible, cost-effective healthcare monitoring. Their research extends beyond the lab with real-world testing in clinics, homes, and remote communities worldwide, ensuring practical, scalable solutions for the future of digital health.

1. Medical ChatGPT
The Medical ChatGPT project at DigiHealth Lab aimed to develop an AI-powered chatbot that guided users through standard diagnostic triage, helping them assess their health status and determine the appropriate next steps for care. The design efforts focused on crafting an intuitive user interface with engaging 3D assets and seamless interactions to enhance accessibility and user experience. Additionally, a custom chatbot character was designed to create a more approachable and engaging user interaction, along with an explainer video that visually communicated the chatbot’s underlying logic, making its decision-making process more transparent and easier to understand.
